Spiritual Maturity

“Moreover, by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Psalms 19:11-13.

Spiritual maturity is a process when a person accepts Jesus Christ as their personal saviour and decides to lead a Christ centred life. Spiritual maturity is learning to grow according to the word of God and allowing God’s word to strengthen us.

Studying God’s word understanding and meditating on the word the living word brings deliverance. The word can chance us in and out and helps us to surrender everything in our life to the living God. We will no longer be the same person as we were yesterday each new day we learn to grow, when we allow the word of God reflects on us, we know where we stand.

Psalm 19 is about King David’s adoration to the Lord God Almighty, King David he is amazed about how the heavens declare the handiwork of the Lord and sees how the whole creation abides in the word of our creator (psalm 19:1-6)

King David had an insight on how God’s law is perfect, sure, right, pure, true and righteous also how the word of God prevails over us by converting the soul, making wise simple, rejoicing the heart, enlightening the eyes, enduring forever.

We can see that King David’s had deeper knowledge and understanding on God’s Law and how it has sustained him in his life and realises its worth and desires more than gold and sweeter that dripping honeycomb. (psalm 19:7-10)

Though being a King yet he humbles himself before the Lord for the instruction he perceives that in keeping them there is a great reward and I presume that one such reward Is having discerning spirit. Since only we ourselves and God alone knows our hidden faults.

This chapter get so beautiful here when king David asks God to cleanse his hidden faults and to keep away from presumptuous sins and he pleas God for them not to have dominion over him. (Psalm 19: 11-14)

Let’s reflect on the whole passage to self-evaluate ourselves and see if we have the adoration towards God’s handiwork and have we declared the revealing glory of God in our life ? have we understood the mighty power in the word of God so that we can have the insight to see the change that God’s word brings. Do we desire and take the instructions from the word of God? Have we got the gift of discerning spirit to know the difference from right doing to wrong doing, have we confessed and prayed for the deliverance to overcome sins, temptations, weakness, backsliding attitude and habits that is keeping us away from the holiness of Christ Jesus.

Let not our self-righteousness, religious practices and lack of knowledge deceive us and keep us away from right standing with Jesus our redeemer, let us make it a habit to read and understand the Bible and pray. Let the living word restore us in Him.

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”Hebrews 4:12

Breaking Strongholds

For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive to obey Christ. 2 cor 10:4-5

The above verse is a guidance for a   growing Christians and for those who wants to know about Christ. Though we know Christ Jesus as our savior, Some of us are bounded by strongholds such as  our old habits , superstitious believes, anger ,self-centered thoughts , manipulative talks, arguments, and  pride these habits and practice becomes a barrier and affect our Christian growth, we might  struggle to overcome them but  fail the reasons might be we are not able to identify the problem.

Paul urges us to fight our strongholds by taking captive of every thought and lofty opinion to obey Christ. Our thoughts and opinion are not always from the spirit of God, Bible tells us to test every spirit.

Though Adam and Eve was in the garden of Eden temptation came to them through the serpent ,Satan was cunning enough to put thoughts and opinions in their  mind and both  Adam and Eve sinned against GOD .We have to be vigilant enough to take our every single thought and opinion  to GOD in  prayer  to the obedience of Christ . Because we can only break our stronghold only by abiding in Christ, Since Christ was obedient to the Father, who gave Himself as a living sacrifice for our sins. (Phil 2:8 says He humble himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on the cross).

As children of God we must fight our strongholds that we face in our day to day life by completely surrendering to Christ. But to all who believed in Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of GOD.John1:12

Righteousness

What is righteousness ?
Righteousness is having a right standing or good standing with God Our Father in Heaven. It Is impossible to have the right standing with God ,by our own ways and our efforts , since our actions, our thoughts our mind process and produce the fruits of our inborn sinful nature as it says .“We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind”. Isaiah 64:6 NLT

Jesus lived a life obedient and righteous according to the Father in heaven . Though Jesus was God ,Jesus always prayed for Father in Heaven this shows the submission of Jesus, Though Jesus could have condemned the lady who was caught on adultery yet, Jesus didn’t condemn her but advised her to go on her way and sin no more this passage shows us that Jesus was living a righteous life .Though Jesus could have said no to the suffering, pain and the death on the cross yet Jesus willing accepted to die for our sins this shows the obedience.

“Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.” Philippians 2:6-8 NLT

Jesus Christ took our sins ,shame, guilt and bondage on the cross of Calvary and washed them away by His precious blood so that we are delivered from the bondage of sin and death . if there was no shedding of blood there wouldn’t be forgiveness and deliverance from sins and our sinful nature. By the resurrection of Christ Jesus we are made righteous which means we are filled with His holiness and we are made right in the sight our Heavenly Father .“He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.” Romans 4:25 NLT

By making us righteous God has ascribed His attributes in us ,now it is for us to put our faith in Christ Jesus and believe in our heart and declare through our mouth that Christ Jesus is the Lord. “For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.”
Hebrews 10:10 NLT
