“Moreover, by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Psalms 19:11-13.
Spiritual maturity is a process when a person accepts Jesus Christ as their personal saviour and decides to lead a Christ centred life. Spiritual maturity is learning to grow according to the word of God and allowing God’s word to strengthen us.
Studying God’s word understanding and meditating on the word the living word brings deliverance. The word can chance us in and out and helps us to surrender everything in our life to the living God. We will no longer be the same person as we were yesterday each new day we learn to grow, when we allow the word of God reflects on us, we know where we stand.
Psalm 19 is about King David’s adoration to the Lord God Almighty, King David he is amazed about how the heavens declare the handiwork of the Lord and sees how the whole creation abides in the word of our creator (psalm 19:1-6)
King David had an insight on how God’s law is perfect, sure, right, pure, true and righteous also how the word of God prevails over us by converting the soul, making wise simple, rejoicing the heart, enlightening the eyes, enduring forever.
We can see that King David’s had deeper knowledge and understanding on God’s Law and how it has sustained him in his life and realises its worth and desires more than gold and sweeter that dripping honeycomb. (psalm 19:7-10)
Though being a King yet he humbles himself before the Lord for the instruction he perceives that in keeping them there is a great reward and I presume that one such reward Is having discerning spirit. Since only we ourselves and God alone knows our hidden faults.
This chapter get so beautiful here when king David asks God to cleanse his hidden faults and to keep away from presumptuous sins and he pleas God for them not to have dominion over him. (Psalm 19: 11-14)
Let’s reflect on the whole passage to self-evaluate ourselves and see if we have the adoration towards God’s handiwork and have we declared the revealing glory of God in our life ? have we understood the mighty power in the word of God so that we can have the insight to see the change that God’s word brings. Do we desire and take the instructions from the word of God? Have we got the gift of discerning spirit to know the difference from right doing to wrong doing, have we confessed and prayed for the deliverance to overcome sins, temptations, weakness, backsliding attitude and habits that is keeping us away from the holiness of Christ Jesus.
Let not our self-righteousness, religious practices and lack of knowledge deceive us and keep us away from right standing with Jesus our redeemer, let us make it a habit to read and understand the Bible and pray. Let the living word restore us in Him.
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”Hebrews 4:12
